Dr Lloyd Douglas (Doug) King is a Brisbane-based orthopaedic surgeon specialising in lower limb surgery. Dr King graduated with first class honours from the University of Queensland School of Medicine. He undertook training in orthopaedic surgery at Nambour, Toowoomba and Brisbane hospitals and was subsequently admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. Dr King worked in the public sector for over twenty years, during which time he served as Deputy Director of Orthopaedics and Senior Lecturer at the UQ School of Medicine. He now wholly devotes his time to his private practice.
Dr King is committed to delivering a very high standard of care to all his patients. His practice philosophy is to treat patients as individuals, taking their unique requirements and priorities into account. By presenting a range of evidence-based treatment options and ensuring that they are fully informed about the details, Dr King empowers his patients to select the treatment that is most appropriate to their situation.

Dr King conducts independent medical examinations and permanent impairment assessments in relation to a range of orthopaedic conditions, including those of the foot and ankle, knee, hip, spine, shoulder, wrist, upper and lower limb trauma. He conducts medicolegal assessments on behalf of third parties such as CTP insurers and workers compensation self-insurers. He is also experienced in assessing military compensation claims (DRCA and MRCA Initial Liability (“IL”) and Permanent Impairment (“PI”) claims).
Dr King has completed the Guidelines for the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment (GEPI) (Queensland Guide) training course and the GEPI modules for upper extremity, lower extremity, spine and chronic pain. He has also completed the American Board of Independent medical Examiners (ABIME) course: AMA guides to the evaluation of permanent impairment, 5th edition, and undertaken SIRA training (NSW) for upper limb, lower limb and spine.
Since 2014 he has served as a member of the current and former WorkCover QLD Independent Medical Examination Panel. Dr King is appointed to the WorkCover QLD Medical Advisory Panel and is also serving an appointment to the Specialist Medical assessment Tribunal, Office of Industrial Relations, Queensland Government.
